HIDRATEMATE
HiDrateMate is a wheelchair headrest for individuals with Muscular Dystrophy.
It provides hands free hydration, the ability to have phone conversations and listen to music through comfortable and private bone conduction drivers.

CONTEXT
Muscular Dystrophy is a progressive neuromuscular disorder characterized by slow muscle regeneration, primarily affecting the lower limbs working its way up to the upper body. It often results in mobility loss and difficulty performing basic tasks, such as staying hydrated and using a phone, ultimately necessitating the need for a carer and causing those who have are diagnosed feel not as independent
The HiDrateMate offers a seamless experience through just two straightforward head movements, grants the user the freedom to stay hydrated, make phone calls, send messages, enjoy audio, and type on a laptop without the need for hands. Equipped with a built-in microphone and bone conduction drivers that gently rest against the user's skull when leaned back with pressure, allows for clear communication with those on the other end of a call. To hydrate, a simple press of your cheek against a body switch on the headrest activates the straw, effortlessly extending from its concealed position, enabling you to consume up to 1 liter of water, all without requiring someone else to refill your supply.
