HALO
Halo is an assistive kitchen sink designed to allow stroke survivors to safely and easily clean kitchen cookware and cutlery one-handed.

1 in 4 people are expected to suffer a stroke in their lifetime. Of those, 40-50% are expected to experience long-lasting upper extremity impairment. This can lead to difficulty performing everyday tasks, like washing up after cooking. For stroke survivors, the current hand dishwashing market is extremely limited, with individuals opting to develop their own one-handed cleaning techniques or makeshift devices.
CONTEXT
HOW DOES IT WORK?
With the integrated steps, Halo can grip pots, pans, plates and bowls. Users simply place the object in the step corresponding to its size allowing the user to scrub effectively with their stronger side.
With the addition of the pot tipper, the Halo Sink allows individuals to confidently pour water from a pot by creating a pivoting action, ensuring the weight of the pot is carried by the sink.
Lastly, with the included cutlery brush, everyday utensils can be cleaned with a one-handed back-and-forth motion.
The integrated pot tipper carries the weight of the pot and utilises a pivoting action to allow individuals to tip out water safely and easily.

The knife and cutlery brush can be fixed to any surface with its integrated suction cup. This allows the user to clean utensils with ease.
