My love for design lies in the realisation that my actions have the ability to create positive outcomes for the community. I love a good walk in the park with a hot mocha and making weird and wonderful stuff with post-consumer plastic! One day, I hope to lead my own team of junior Industrial Designers to empower them to reach their full potential.

CIRCOCARE

CircoCare is a reusable DVT (deep vein thrombosis) prevention solution replacing the current 12 million single use devices a year. It empowers Nurses with the ability to ensure the heroic actions they make to care for us at our darkest times, are not at the expense of our environment.
Every year 52,000 tonnes of waste is produced by the healthcare industry in NSW alone. Nurses in hospitals are constantly facing a multitude of problems which prevent them from ensuring the single use products they use everyday can be diverted from landfill to help keep our planet clean whilst still keeping humanity safe. But the design of some of these products simply do not consider their potential to minimise landfill waste at their end of life.
CONTEXT
The CircoCare solution is made up of the CircoSleeve calf compression device which utlilses hospital grade fabrics and emerging artifical muscle technology to allow washability through industrial laundering services, whilst providing the same effective DVT prevention treatment. This is powered by the CircoUnit which uses hydraulics to pump the sleeve with water to allow expansion and contraction on the calf.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The CircoUnit is designed for Nurse usability with ergonomic grips and an approachable and intuitive display with simple tracking of treatment.
USABILITY & ERGONOMICS
CircoCare utilises a Hospital grade polycotton UBL mix fabric to ensure washability after every use, as well as increasing its life span from a single use to up to 50 washes, equalling up to 3 years use in the hospital.
HOSPITAL GRADE TEXTILES
CircoCare minimises material usage by approximately 50% with a smaller sleeve, that is universally sized.
